DETAILS OF THE MEETING
The purpose of the new Official Plan is to update and replace the existing (1999) Township of Coleman Official Plan. The proposed new Official Plan contains new policies to ensure conformity to current Provincial plans, policy and legislation. This project commenced in August 2024. The new Official Plan applies to all lands within the Township of Coleman.
An Official Plan is intended to form the foundation for land use planning decisions that are to be made by Council, members of the public and government agencies, with respect to existing and future land uses, economic development and the identification and protection of known natural and human heritage features and functions within the Township of Coleman. It is one of the most important policy documents that Council adopts, and it contains a broad range of goals and policies that guide and provide direction to landowners, business owners, and the community pertaining to how growth is managed and resources are protected.
